IK Osakioduwa
Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, popularly known as IK, is a Nigerian host and on-air personality, well known for his work with Rhythm 93.7 FM as a presenter and Big Brother Africa as a host. Now IK is not new to hosting which is why we have no problem trusting that Nigerian Idol Season 6 is in good hands.
IK’s presenting experience cuts across several shows and events. He has been the only male host of the AMVCA since 2013. He has also hosted the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant for 5 years consecutively, Rhythm Unplugged (4 years consecutively), Comedy Club: Live in Lagos (4 years consecutively) and The Voice Nigeria (2 years consecutively). He’s worked on other shows like Mnet’s Studio 53, Temptation Nigeria and Comedy Nites.
Over the years, Nigerian Idol has showcased personalities like Misi Holloway, Anis Holloway, Tiwa Savage and IllRymz as hosts of the show. IK will be joining this exclusive lineup. IK gave Netng a sneak peek into the kind of host he’s going to be on Nigerian Idol. According to him, “Other shows are host driven but when it comes to Nigerian Idol, you’re not a coach. You’re more of backseat support who encourages the contestants and carries the audience along.

DJ Sose
Thomas Omonkhogie Amar-Aigbe (born 5th June 1981) popularly known as Dj Sose, an International Dj / Producer / Entertainer. He is known for his striking facial tattoo but also best known for his ability to keep the crowd dancing while creating a musical experience mixing different genres and era’s of music.
Born to a musically gifted Nigerian Father and a Hungarian mother. Dj Sose’s life became immersed with music right from childhood. He embraced the sounds of music, and began thinking of ways to ensure that music would play a pivotal role in his life even then. However, it was never just one genre that managed to intrigue the ‘Tattooed faced Dj’. From the diverse range of music surrounding him, Sose became captivated by sounds from afro beats, to classical, to jazz, to hip hop, to rock, to House and the list goes on.
Until one sees this spin doctor in action one would not be able to fully appreciate what is meant when it is said, ‘What Dj Sose brings is not just an image, but he engulfs the presence of a born entertainer. His stage name Dj ‘Sose’, short for ‘Soseneyayi’ is Esan deriving from his tribe Edo State Nigeria which was given to him by his father. Soseneyayi, means ‘Bear Witness To The Believer’. But is also an acronym, which is his motto to life: ‘Smile Over Sorrow every day’ manifesting his positive and unstoppable approach to life and love of music.
Besides playing popular commercial or contemporary music, Sose is no musical snob. If the track is good, he’ll play it. He has lived abroad, mainly in the UK for 14 years, and while he was there he got a degree in Business Information Systems from the University Of Hertfordshire, and a diploma in Film & Video Production from Cavendish College, London. He has also managed several music projects allowing his dream to materialise by turning his passion into a profession and has helped others reach their path of self-realisation within the music industry.
He has performed in different countries so as in events like Music Festivals, Corporate Parties, Weddings, Product Activations / Launches, Brand Tours, Reality Tv Shows and many more.
In 2018, Dj Sose got married to his longtime girlfriend Olamide Amar-Aigbe and at present they currently reside in Nigeria.
DJ SOSE was the Official Dj for Africa’s 1st Saturday Late Night Tv Show called “Highlites With IK” hosted by popular radio personality and Big Brother Africa host, IK Osakioduwa which launched on Saturday, the 22nd of November, 2014. The show features popular hash-tag topics on social media and interviews with celebrities and personalities. The show came to end after 3 Seasons (140+ Episodes) March 2018.
He is currently the Official Dj for Comedy Nites, a half-hour Stand-up comedy television show that boasts an array of top-notch performances from a blend of newly discovered, fast rising and established Comedians all in a cozy, comedy club setting. Each episode sees three comedians entertain the crowd with jokes and a little bit of ridiculousness while the in-house DJ (DJ SOSE) supplies the necessary music to keep the tempo going.
DJ SOSE released a comic book called BEATZ in which he is a character born with a rare Condition, Synesthesia, which fosters seeing sound as colours. Power later finds him, granting him the ability to make a difference. Sose chooses to use his powers to stop Bullies believing that he is no hero, and wishing for no accolades. Follow his journey as he battles the bullies whom no law can touch. He is not a hero, he just dislikes bullies.
Seyi Shay
Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua also known as SEYI SHAY was born December 21, 1985 in London is the owner and currently signed to her own independent music label STARGURL. Her music is published by Universal Music France.
Classically trained in playing the violin, Seyi Shay also began singing at six. She later joined her high school choir. The choir went on to be part of the reputable ‘London Community Gospel Choir’.
LCGC is where Seyi Shay would embark on her first musical tour accompanying them to Japan where they toured 13 major cities. She was just 15 years old.
Seyi Shay signed her first licensing deal with Sir George Martin (the producer of the legendary band, The Beatles) via her then production company ‘No Apologies’.
Shay later became the lead singer of the British Pop/R&B girl band, ‘From Above’ after attending an open audition.
The group was later signed to Sony/Columbia under the management of Matthew Knowles (Beyoncé’s father). The group went on to open up for Beyonce on the UK leg of the “I AM” tour in 2010/11 and shoot a 7 episode reality show called BREAKING FROM ABOVE with MTV. This aired in over 166 countries globally.
The show focused on the making of A band and it’s breaking points that eventually led to its break-up.
Seyi Or Shay
In 2011, Seyi Shay parted ways with the girl band and continued her musical career in Nigeria to begin releasing singles like ‘Irawo’, ‘Killin Me Softly’ ft Timaya, ‘Chairman’ and ‘Ragga Ragga’.
Soon after her introduction into West Africa she was supporting and performing alongside the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Chris Brown, Rick Ross and more.
In 2014 Seyi Shay independently released ‘Murda’ ft Patoranking and Shaydee, a song that received wide acclaim and changed the sound of modern contemporary afrobeat and its music video by partnering with JM FILMS.
Murda charted at top 10 in the UK on BBC Radio 1xtra. Murda won many awards.
In 2015, Seyi Shay released her debut album, “Seyi or Shay” which featured the majority of Nigeria’s finest recording artistes including Dbanj, Wizkid, Flavour , Cynthia Morgan and more.
In 2016 Shay signed to Island Records, UK where she produced music for the next 3 years and released collaborations with The Beatfreakz, Mr Eazi , JP Cooper and Shakka.
Seyi Shay’s musical dexterity has made her a household name over the past few years. She continues to push her own boundaries by experimenting with different sounds such as her singles ‘Yolo Yolo’ (currently Bailey’s brand theme song) and ‘BIA’ in 2017 which both have very Afro/Salsa and fusion vibes.
In 2018, Seyi Shay independently released a six-track EP named ELECTRIC PACKAGE, this time featuring some of Africa’s finest artistes.
Her latest hit single ‘Gimmie Love’ The Remix featuring Teyana Taylor’ (originally featured Runtown), was premiered on the Ebro Morning Show and attracted global acclaim and over 1m streams in its first month of release.
Throughout her career, Seyi Shay has written and produced for various artists such as former Spice Girl Mel B; three major songs for the Konami Game Soundtrack; “Crime Life”; Chipmunk and Kalenna Harper from Dirty Money.
Along with a successful music career, Seyi Shay has also led her talents to acting, making her acting debut in the film “Lara and the Beat.” Which recently made it to Netflix.
More recently she featured in Dionne Searcy of The New York Times’ novel ; ‘In Persuit of Disobedient Women’, where she was highlighted and written about as one of Dionne’s most interesting women ever met.
Seyi Shay is currently signed to Universal music publishing, France and Aristokrat music publishing .
Seyi Shay continues to evolve in fashion and entertainment and has been branded as a trendsetting fashionista. Unafraid to experiment, evolve and revolutionise; her latest body of work ‘BIG GIRL’ speaks of her growth into womanhood, music, fashion and the media.
Obi Asika
Obi Asika is focused on the possibilities that the creative and cultural industries offer for Nigeria, Africa and the global black Diaspora. He is a leading advocate for Nigerian and African Soft power.
Obi Asika joined the board of trustees of the Nigerian Olympic Committee in December 2020, he is a former Vice Chairman of Kwara Utd, a Nigerian Premier League football club. Obi has been involved in football and sports for 20 plus years.
Obi Asika is the Founder of Dragon Africa, a strategic communications agency, event & conference producer, he is the co-founder of Social Media Week Lagos, one of the largest new media and technology conferences in Africa. Obi is Founder of @IbaAjie a new innovation and creative hub opening in Onitsha in 2021. Obi has been involved in promoting and enabling opportunities in the technology, sports, media and entertainment industries in Nigeria and globally. He has been an Executive Producer for global events, major global tv franchises and festivals including, Fifa U20 World Cup 1999, CAF Nations Cup 2000, Big Brother Nigeria 2006, Dragons Den Nigeria, 2007, The Apprentice Africa 2008, Naija Sings 2009-2012, Calabar Festival 2008 & Calabar Rocks Tv Series 2009, Soccerex West Africa 2012, SMWLagos 2012- until the present to name a few.
Obi Asika is the National Coordinator of the Technical Working Group for the Creative Industries, Tourism, Culture and Hospitality sectors for the 2020-2050 Media and Long term National Development plan for the Nigeria 2050 Agenda. He has spoken extensively on this sector and worked across the space as well as worked on the sector and ecosystem development.
Obi Asika was appointed Senior Special Assistant to The President for Social Media & Digital Policy (2015)
Obi Asika has worked with and advised multilaterals, corporations, governments, brands and agencies on the creative industries, sports, strategic communications, events and more.
Obi Asika was educated at Eton College, The University of Warwick and The Nigeria Law School.

Contestants

Akunna
Akunna Okechukwu, who goes by the stage name AK, is a 23-year-old entertainment and intellectual property lawyer who lives in Lagos. She comes from a musical family – her elder sister is an artist, and her brother sings. She started singing at age six in the children’s choir.
Akunna joined Nigerian Idol in hopes that she could share her gifts with the world and inspire people. She wants the world to know this side of her, and she can’t wait to showcase all she has learned.

Beyonce
Beyonce started singing and writing music from a very young age. Her dad is a singer, so she followed in his footsteps. As a singer, one thing she’s learned is that winning a singing competition is not just about talent; you need skills and confidence.
Contrary to what some many think, Beyonce is not a stage name. But this talented singer promises to live up to her name with outstanding performances.

Clinton
Clinton Francis is a 24-year-old graduate of Laboratory Science. He hails from Imo State and has been a lover of music since childhood. He started in the children’s church, later joining a teenage choir. In secondary school, he was in the choral group.
He started singing professionally in 2014. He’s been to several singing competitions and even auditioned for the 2015 edition of Nigerian Idol. Now he’s here, and he’s going for the win. He hopes his unique voice and his sincerity will reach the audience through his music.

Comfort
Comfort Alalade hails from Osun State, but the 18-year-old stays in Lagos with her parents. She developed a love for singing at a young age and joined the choir in school and church. She would also get invited to programs to sing.
Comfort believes that grace got her this far, and she hopes that she can show what she has learned so far and wow the audience.

Daniel
Daniel is a singer, songwriter, producer, and designer. Daniel’s first brush with music was at home, seeing his parents singing to each other. Daniel started writing and producing music in 2014, although none were for himself. He mostly worked on other people’s music. It was in 2018 he started writing his songs.
Daniel has participated in several singing competitions, but to him, this matters most. Daniel auditioned for Nigerian Idol because he hopes to share his music with a bigger audience. Nigerian Idol has taught him that there is so much to learn. He is excited to share his personality and his truth with everyone.

Dotun
Dotun Deloye is a performer and entrepreneur who lives in Lagos. He’s been working in the industry, making music for 10 years, and he finally got his big break. This isn’t his first time at Nigerian Idol. He had previously applied in 2014 and 2015.
Dotun is bringing his experiences and versatility from all his years of experience to the show. He’s sacrificed a lot, and now, it’s time to see it all pay off.

Emmanuel
Emmanuel Elijah, also known as LJ, is a first-time finalist. According to him, he’s never been at this stage in any competition he’s been to. Professionally, he started music in 2015, but music has been a significant part of his childhood. His mum would play traditional music every morning. It was a glue that held the family together in times of joy or sadness.

Faith
Faith is a 19-year-old student of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Fun fact: the first words he ever spoke were through a song! Faith has been singing for 15 years, but this is his first big competition.
One thing he’s learned as a contestant so far is never to give up. There are always people out there that are better than you, but that shouldn’t weigh you down. He thinks he has what it takes to be the next Nigerian Idol and isn’t letting anyone intimidate him.
The Nigerian Idol Live Show starts May 9th and We can’t wait to see what these 11 have in store for us.

Faith Mac
Faith is a fashion designer and singer from Bayelsa State. She grew up in a family of singers and fell in love with music too. Watching her sisters sing and rehearse gave her all the ginger that she needed. She’s been singing professionally for 10 years.
Through the show, she hopes to merge her music with her fashion, and she showcases brilliance for all to see. She believes that with all she will learn, she can make it to the top.

Francis
Francis Atela hails from Benue State but has spent all his life in Jos. He found out about the auditions through social media, and he went for it. This isn’t his first time, though; he auditioned for the show some years back in Abuja.
Francis has been singing for about 11 years and started in the church choir. Professionally, he started singing four years ago when he signed to a small label. For Francis, Nigerian Idol is a platform to bare his soul and showcase his authentic self.

Kingdom
Kingdom Kroseide is a student of Computer Science and Informatics at Federal University, Otuoke. Not only does he sing, but he also teaches music. Kingdom’s love for music came from his affinity for the combination of sounds. For that reason, he learned to build his vocal ability and taught himself to sing by watching videos.
Kingdom juggles schooling and making music to achieve his dreams. For Kingdom, Nigerian Idol is a way to put himself out there, so the music he makes reaches the right ears. He has songs in the works, and he can’t wait to release them.
